What to include in a bug report

  • Your device and its system version, for example a Mac with macOS 14 or an iPad with iPadOS 17.
  • The app version and build number shown in TestFlight.
  • What you did, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
  • A screenshot or short screen recording, if it helps show the problem.
  • If the problem is tied to one score, its title and page number. Only attach the PDF if you have the right to share it.

Common questions

Where is my library stored?

On your device: managed copies of the PDFs you import, ink strokes, annotation layers, page corrections, and analysis data. If you turn on iCloud, it also syncs through your own private iCloud account, using CloudKit and iCloud Drive. We can’t read it.

How does iCloud sync work?

With iCloud on, MaestroNote keeps your library in step across your own Mac, iPad, and iPhone through your private iCloud account. It isn’t instant: a change on one device can take a while to show up on another. And it’s not a way to share with other people, because the library belongs only to your iCloud account. If something still hasn’t arrived after a while, open Settings: under iCloud you’ll see how sync is going, and Refresh asks it to sync again. The library only shows an iCloud warning when something goes wrong, and the warning opens the same status. If it still doesn’t arrive, send us a bug report.

Why don’t my documents from earlier betas appear?

Version 0.2.0 started a new, empty library that syncs through a new iCloud container. Documents from earlier betas stay on your device, but they don’t appear in the new library. If you kept the original PDFs, you can import them again.

What does deleting a document remove?

It removes the app’s copy of the document, together with its annotations and analysis. The original file you imported isn’t touched.

Do I need an Apple Pencil?

To write on a score with ink, yes: you need an iPad with Apple Pencil. On Mac and iPhone, Play is for reading. Marking passages in Analyze works with a finger or a mouse.

How do I send feedback through TestFlight?

Open the TestFlight app, choose MaestroNote, and select Send Beta Feedback. You can add a note and a screenshot. On iPhone and iPad you can also take a screenshot inside MaestroNote and share it as beta feedback. A screenshot shows everything on screen, so check it before you send it. You can also write to hola@maestronote.app.
